I enjoy listening to podcasts so much while I’m knitting, I thought I might make a little archive of them for anyone who comes my way but hasn’t heard about them.
knitcast.com, Marie Irshad.
This Welsh lady took the knitting world by storm because I think knitcast was the first of its kind. She’s got 19 episodes under her belt and all of them are worth a spin. She interviews all sorts of people from the knit and design world, the latest being Debbie Bliss. Whilst it is interesting, I feel the show could benefit from some music to make the interviews more listener-friendly. I think it would be good too, if Marie Irshad talked about her own knitting or discussed other knitterly things along with the interviews. But that’s just my opinion.
cast-on, Brenda Dayne.
Brenda Dayne likes to talk about knitting in general, and throws in music to knit by. Great for long journeys.
knitting news cast, Rhonda Bell.
This is a new podcast, with its fourth episode just up. I haven’t had a chance to give it a listen but am downloading it as I type 🙂 from what I can gather from the show notes, it looks interesting.
secret knitting, Danilea Johannsenova.
This is a great quirky little podcast! You follow the instructions and you knit yourself a little surprise. I think it’s such an ingenious idea. Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to sit down and actually knit along to the cast but I’m saving it for the day I get sick and need cheering up. Also, fair play to a non-english speaking person learning all the bizarre terminology and putting this podcast on the map!

I have not had a chance to give this a listen either, but am referencing it here because I have heard good things about it, and judging by the show notes, the content appears interesting.
I cannot talk about podcasts without mentioning my all-time favourite podcast, craftypod, by sister Diane. I originally downloaded it because there was an episode about knitting, but every aspect of the show got me hooked. The content and layout of the show, the absolutely zany music she uses, the tone of her voice, everything! She has sparked interest within me in crafts I would have otherwise ignored… things like zines, soap-making, and candle-art. Incidentally, her site has alot of great links to other crafty sites that are always very inspiring.
And last but not least, crafty chica is always worth a spin. She talks about lots of different crafts, many of them with hispanic influences, which I find really interesting.
Happy listening!
