The perils of sitting down

My schedule is always crazy. I have two days where I potter about doing my own thing, blissful peace, and then I have a few days where it’s the musical equivalent of being in Vietnam.

I have finished two very unfraternal socks. First up, it’s numero uno of the Twisted Flowers.

I am particularly pleased with how this turned out, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the next one. The nice thing about it is that it looks unbelievably intricate – but knitted row by row, is very manageable. I particularly like how the pattern continues down the heel flap (Yet Another Reason to knit a heel flap!).

Next up, it’s numbero uno of the Mint Jitterbugs. Let me just say two words: soft socks. This stuff is gorgeous.

I’m pretty happy with the length of the leg bit, and it looks like I’ll have enough to make the other one. I suppose that’s the joy of having tiny feet (well, that and getting to wear the sparkly sandals from the childrens’ shoes in Dunnes)!

Ever hear of Knitting School Dropout? I enjoy her blog a lot. I have just come across a pattern that she wrote some time ago for a little leaf-lace t-shirt. I think it is the nicest little summer knit, and is the perfect excuse to buy some Debbie Bliss Cathay. I have been drooling over it in TIK for months now but couldn’t think up what to knit from it. Problem solved!

  1. Love the twisted flowers sock – and the leaf lace t-shirt – I might have to join you on that one! Do TIK stock Cathay?

  2. the socks are great – but did you break the dpn with that pattern? should be renamed into “twistes needles”:)) happened to me once too – the smaller sized needles just don’t like cable patterns or so it seems:(( mine was a circular – and I can still use the second half for french knitting, but it is rather expensive to replace, if it happens on a regular basis:((
and you must be a very positive person if you think that you can use this t-shirt this summer! I think our summer fell into april this year… no warmer weather in sight so far….

  3. I recently broke a bamboo sock needle by (like a complete, bumbling idiot) using it to leverage the battery out of my cellphone. Then I actually sat there in surprise for two whole seconds when the tip broke. I think it’s salvageable; only the very very end broke, so I can make a new tip with sandpaper, I think. Man, did I have the stupids that day.

That leaf tee is awfully cute, but if it’s warm enough to wear short sleeves, I don’t want to layer.

Then again, if I make it a size too big, I can wear long sleeve tees under it for the fall.

    WOO! Inspiration!

  4. Oh and the socks are beautiful! Since you’ve mentioned having tiny feet, and the length of that Jitterbug sock is normal but not impressively tall, I think I’ll stick with my plan to use contrasting yarn for the toes/heels/cuffs.

Twisted Flowers is beautiful, and that heel is gorgeous, but I still dowanna make heel flaps!
