Quarter Century

Yep, I reached the big 25 today! The older I get, the more I enjoy my birthday. I had a good day. I got all my practice done, I had my last day of teaching, and my dad had made dinner for me when I got home. And I just had a cornetto. Fantastic.

A birthday wouldn’t be a birthday without casting on for a new sock, now would it? 😀

Behold! The Twisted Flower Sock! (if you click on the link and look at the larger picture, that bit just under the cuff is where I am now). I am a big fan of Cookie A’s sock designs. I’ve knitted two pairs of Pomatomii and this one is shaping up to be just as, if not more, entertaining. The chart is nice and big and easy to follow. I was afraid that it would be one huge repeat around the whole leg, but it’s not. It’s an 18-stitch panel repeated four times. Nice.

And the Cashsilk top has been zooming along. Not quite at the armholes like I’d hoped, but getting there.

The more this project grows, the more surprised I am by the richness of the fabric. Ok, the stuff in the ball is soft and even the swatch is yummy-touchy-feely. But when you have a whole tube that goes around you in this stuff… there is nothing like it. Seriously. Cashmerino doesn’t come close. Cashmerino doesn’t even live on the same street as Cashsilk. Cashsilk is even a little afraid at night of drive-by pilling by Cashmerino, and drives a car with black windows to avoid being seen by Cashmerino. Next time you see a car with black windows, you know who’s in there. Wave your ball of Cashmerino at it and see how fast it drives off! Proof!
