I’ve been getting some serious Thermal knitting done. A good job, too, because from the look of the forecast for this week, I’m going to need it for another while yet! *drumroll* I divided for the placket this morning! Horray! (A placket is a division where you put buttons).
…Which brings me to another problem… What sort of buttons will I use? Wooden? Clear plastic? I’ve actually been considering making my own out of Fimo. It could be a bit of fun! I intend on starting a sleeve tomorrow. This has finally become too cumbersome to lug around in my bag (hint: when project is larger than your handbag, it’s time to find a different project).
I spent most of today alternating between practice (I don’t want to talk about it. I’m memorising a modern piece that I hate and playing a Chopin scherzo that makes no sense to me) and writing up my Rosy pattern.
Pattern writing is very engrossing. Each size presents its own little fiddly bits, but then some sizes end up being really like other sizes and that does some of the work for you. I will be very interested to see if the pattern actually makes sense to other human beans. All going well, you will shortly be able to purchase the downloadable pattern over at This is Knit and be able to see (and try on if you want) The Real Thing ™ in the shop.
My main motivation for finishing this project and pattern up is the next pattern I have lined up – a really snuggly spring top. I woke up very suddenly in the middle of the night some time last week with not one but two solutions to problems I’d had with my idea. One was what neckline to use and the other was an unavoidable edge. I’ve found a great way out of both…. but you’re just going to have to wait and see!
