Today turned out to be a real beauty, so we all went for a walk in Strandhill. I had a good run and took some photos too.
Strandhill and Rosses Point are very close to each other and are quite exposed. Strandhill is especially renowned for its spectacular waves and surfing opportunities. When the tide is out, as it was this afternoon, it is a really lovely beach to visit. But beware! There is an extremely strong undertow at this beach and I cannot say just how dangerous it is to bathe here. Although the water is clean, swimming is not permitted and there is no lifeguard. Of course this never stopped anyone and there have been countless people drowned here. Because it is so exposed, this is a great place for flying kites and you get alot of people with those big kites that pull you around the beach on a skateboard.
We saw these guys jump off the ridge just as we were leaving. Scary stuff!
In other news, I swatched for my Granny Smith cardigan. I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this colour! The patten recommends 3.5mm needles and I only have 3.25mm and 3.75mm. So I knitted my swatch with 3.75mm but it’s just that little bit too big. I am going to ring Yarn tomorrow and see if they have any 100cm 3.5mm Addi Turbo needles. I recall they had some in stock but cannot remember if they had that size or length. My 3.75mm needles are Denise, but I find that the points just aren’t pointy enough for dealing with mohair at this gauge.
Best of all, I finished my Jaywalkers right on target! They are upon my feet as I type. Horray! Now I can start on Bryony’s socks with my gorgeous green Opal yarn! *drool*argyle socks* (if you click on the link, there is a link to the pattern on the right of her blog)
What gorgeous pictures and a lovely walk for you to boot.
Looks like a beautiful place – love the photos 🙂
What a beautiful castle! I can see that you are good in sculpting!
I LOVE the photo!
